Casual Christmas Tablescape

Just a few weeks left until Christmas and I think I'm almost done decorating! I try to focus on the rooms where we spend most of our time, and the kitchen definitely qualifies for that!  For our family areas, I like to keep the look relaxed and casual and welcoming. So with the help of a few fresh items from ProFlowers I created a Casual Christmas Tablescape and turned our chaotic kitchen and dining area into a festive family space.  (This is a sponsored post with Provide Commerce & the Social Media Chicks. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely love the smell and flavor of rosemary! I liked the casual and rustic look to this Burlap Potted Rosemary Bush with a painted star on it. I placed it inside an inexpensive 2.50 wreath I picked up from Target last year. I like using wreaths as parts of a read more...

Christmas Spice Simmering Potpourri

Fill your home with the  warm and welcoming aroma of citrus and spice using only three ingredients! Christmas Spice Simmering Potpourri is so simple to make and use for yourself or to give as a hostess or neighbor gift.

I think it's fair to say that our family has an addiction problem. We are addicted to Clementine oranges! When I had morning sickness with my pregnancies, I would carry around fresh clementine peels and sniff them whenever the nausea hit. Their citrus scent alleviated my symptoms. That behavior might have looked strange to some, but probably not as strange as our ginormous pile of peels we've been collecting! Instead of tossing out the peels, we lay them on cookie sheet that we have placed on top of our fridge (hence no one sees it!). The peels will dry out completely in about 2 days.

To make Christmas Spice Simmering Potpourri you will need 1 cup of dried orange peels, 2 or 3 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon of whole dried cloves.  Pour the ingredients into a small crock pot or small pot, add 2 cups of water and read more...

A Very Merry Lego Christmas

This post brought to you by LEGO. All opinions are 100% mine.

This fun Christmas post is in honor of my kiddos. The Christmas season is magical for children!  I have 2 boys and they have been OBSESSED with LEGO Minifigure Family  for, well, since they were born! Sometimes you just have to have fun on Sand & Sisal and let your LEGO on!  When my kids shop for LEGOS they seriously look at what LEGO Minifigures are featured. Kids love minifigures, so when LEGO sent me this awesome app to transform our family into personalized LEGO peeps, how could I refuse? You have the opportunity to customize each of your family members with different skin tones, hair styles and outfits and transform them into the most rockin' Holiday LEGO Minifigures ever!   DISCLAIMER.... I let my 6 year old design each family member, so ummm girls.... if you don't like how you look, blame it on your little bro!  I think we were all in agreement that out of all the backgrounds to choose from, a warm and tropical Christmas beach scene would be right up Sand & Sisal's aisle! Don't you agree?

Coastal Christmas Mantels

Christmas is almost here and I'm finishing up last minute decorating. We have a family tradition of spending Christmas Eve at my mother's beachfront home with all my sisters and their families. I can't wait to see  her coastal mantel and tree. Because our Coastal Christmas Tree is in our music room and no where near a fire place, we decorated the mantel in a red and white theme.  I thought it would be fun though to gather up some Coastal Christmas Mantel ideas for your holiday viewing pleasure.

Holiday Fragrances – Thymes Gingerbread

Do you have a favorite holiday fragrance? You know, it's the scent that instantly takes you on a trip down memory lane.  The smell of fresh from the oven gingerbread rekindles fond childhood memories of my little sister and I baking gingerbread cookies and bread with our mom. Flour dusted on my mom's apron, cute little gingerbread cookie cutters, a fire crackling in the fireplace, snow softly blowing outside the window, are all the memories that come flooding back. This week Thymes sent me their new holiday fragrance collection, Gingerbread, to try in my home. My home is smelling deliciously amazing! (PS- Thymes is giving a special offer to all of you at the bottom of this post)

Gingerbread is one of the many Home Fragrance collections from Thymes, featuring a mix of candles, diffusers, home care, and home décor accessories. It's a modern fragrance inspired by age-old traditions. The fresh from the oven scent is warmed with spicy notes of cardamom, cinnamon, crystallized ginger and hints of golden amber.

Cranberry Orange Scones in the Coastal Christmas Kitchen

Welcome to my home away from home... my mom's house! It's a gorgeous Victorian house that my parents designed and built nearly 20 years ago on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Last week we got together for some mommy-daughter time and spent the afternoon adding a few red and white Christmas decorations to her coastal kitchen and baked up some delicious Cranberry Orange Scones.

Everyone wave hello to my mom, Ms. Linda (pictured below)!  Mom's kitchen is the main hub of the home, where our family loves to gather and visit around the bar. All of her grand babies have grown up crawling on these pine floors, playing with cousins, and building sandcastles on grammy's beach. This house is full of memories!

Sunlight floods the main floor (which is the 2nd story) and the pretty white cabinets and counters with yellow walls creates such a cheerful space. The kitchen is a large galley kitchen, complete with food pantry, dumb waiter, and a butlers pantry... storage galore! Oh how I envy her storage space!

"Let Earth receive her King! Let every heart prepare Him room."

This little beautiful brass horn from a thrift store never knew he'd be adorning a simple boxwood wreath.

For years he's been buried beneath the boxes in the attic, dusty and tarnished, unnoticed.

Put a Ring On It

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jostens. All opinions are 100% mine.
Can I introduce you to my two daughters? Meet Madison & Morgan (pictured left to right). Morgan  is the oldest and is off at college and Madison is in high school. One is blue eyed, the other is deep brown eyed. One is spirited, driven, and strong willed, and the other is soft spoken, laid back, and compassionate. My two gorgeous girls are opposites, but they both have similar tastes in fashion, design and accessories.  And this year it is Madison's turn to choose and design something from Jostens class rings. And I'm so pleased to have Jostens class rings as a proud sponsor of Sand & Sisal!

Because a personalized class ring is a significant and special gift purchase, we think that Christmas time is the perfect time, as a holiday gift idea, to give her the ring! We're gonna put a ring on it! (Shhhh! It's a secret!).

Oh my goodness, I am so blown away each year to see how class rings have changed since my days back in the 80's! Jostens class rings reflect the newer trends in design. They are so stylish and unique! And what is nice is that each ring option allows for total personal customized read more...
